An online donation drive is exactly what it sounds like: no catalog, no boxes, no delivery day. Families give directly and share a link with relatives near and far. For some schools it's the easiest money they'll raise all year. For others, a product sale still does better. Here's how to tell which one you are.
When an online drive wins
- Your committee is small or worn out, and nobody has the bandwidth for sorting and delivery.
- Your families are spread out, with grandparents and aunts in other states who'd happily chip in online.
- You want the money fast, without waiting weeks for product to arrive.
- You've run product sales back to back and families need a break from buying things.
When a product sale still does better
- Your younger kids light up over a prize program and something to actually carry home and sell.
- Your community loves a specific product, like chocolate, and looks forward to it every year.
- You have the volunteer muscle to handle a delivery day without burning anyone out.
- You want the buzz that a physical product and a live kickoff create around the school.
Plenty of schools do both across the year: a no-product online drive in the fall and a product sale in the spring, or the other way around. The right mix depends on your families, your volunteers, and what you're raising for.
Not sure which fits your school?
I'm James, and I help schools around Dallas and Collin County pick between these instead of guessing. Because I carry several programs, I'm not steering you toward the one thing I happen to sell, I'm matching the format to your school.
